Concern has been raised over the sentencing of a couple who physically attacked Jews outside a wedding hall while shouting antisemitic remarks, with both assailants escaping a jail sentence.

Ineta and Kasimiersz Winiarski, of Clapton Common, East London, attacked three Jewish men in Stamford Hill waiting outside the Kehal Yetav Lev synagogue to take guests home from a function.

Ineta Winiarski whipped Ben Herbst with a dog lead while shouting “dogs in England better than Jewish”, before unsuccessfully attempting to set her dog on the Jewish men. She and her husband shoved and punched Mr Herbst, his father, Israel Herbst, and Mr David Tangy.

In court, Kasimiersz admitted two counts of assault by beating, but denied making antisemitic remarks. His wife was convicted of three counts of racially aggravated assault.
