One of the messages read “F*** Jews” accompanied with a Nazi swastika.
Another displayed the numbers and letters “14/88 WPWW”.
The number 14 is a reference to a white power slogan using 14 different words, while 88 is neo-Nazi numerical code for the slogan “Heil Hitler” with the eight referring to “H”, the eighth letter of the alphabet.
A further message was said to be a racial slur directed at black people.
Ivor Caplin, former Labour defence minister and Hove MP, and current south-east chair of the Jewish Labour Movement, condemned the perpetrators and demanded that“Kent police take this seriously and find the antisemitic scum who did this”.
Vince Maple, the Labour parliamentary candidate for Chatham & Aylesford, labelled those responsible as “total scumbags… especially around Holocaust Memorial Day.”
The JC has contacted Kent Police and Chatham council for comment.
