The biggest havdalah party in history - that's what Shabbat UK organisers are aiming for as the climax to the nationwide celebration of the day of rest.

The party, on October 24, is taking place at Brent Cross, north-west London, in an area with space for up to 5,000. It is being planned as a major event to mark the end of the weekend.

Participant Rabbi Marc Levene said the event would allow people who had marked ShabbatUK in their own communities to get together for one big celebration.

He said: "The party is an opportunity for individuals who, after engaging in their local ShabbatUK events, can come together with everybody and close the Shabbat. It is going to be extremely exciting. We are going to try to break the record. We want to encourage everyone to get involved and book tickets online."
