Israel’s Sephardi Chief Rabbi, Yitzhak Yosef, is to make his first visit to the UK since taking office three years ago.
The Rishon LeZion, as Israel’s Sephardi leaders are traditionally known, will be hosted by the S and P Sephardi Community and address a conference of Sephardi rabbis arranged in his honour next month.
He will also visit schools, meet rabbis from other communites in London and give a Torah class open to all.
Rabbi Yosef is the son of Rav Ovadia Yosef, the foremost Sephardi leader of recent times and a previous holder of the post.
SPS Senior Rabbi Joseph Dweck said that it was “a great honour for the UK Sephardi community to welcome the Rishon LeZion. His visit will be a great inspiration and source of strength for the community”.
