A delegation of Jewish leaders has met Security Minister James Brokenshire to discuss threats to the community.
The Board of Deputies, Jewish Leadership Council and Community Security Trust met Mr Brokenshire in Parliament on Wednesday.
They talked about the threat posed by extremism and concerns over the return of British jihadis from Iraq and Syria.
Mr Brokenshire assured the group that the government was working to tackle online radicalisation as well as to address security threats to Jewish institutions and individuals.
“Nothing can justify threats or violence against anyone because of their faith. We need to be confronting all forms of extremism and be much less tolerant of intolerance,” the Home Office minister said.
“The government has been clear about the need to close any gaps in our response to the terrorist threat and a new counter-terrorism bill will be introduced before the end of November.”
Finchley and Golders Green MP Mike Freer also joined the meeting.
