The programme of The Holy Rosenbergs, Ryan Craig's National Theatre play about an Edgware Jewish family, contains a four-page timeline of notable events in Jewish history.
Starting in 1290 with King Edward I's expulsion of the Jews, it ends in 2010 with "Lord Goldstone" going to his grandson's barmitzvah (a mix-up of former Attorney General Lord Goldsmith with Judge Richard Goldstone). In between various wars, pogroms and intifadas come such entries as 1976: Jack Rosenthal's Bar Mitzvah Boy on the BBC and 1992: Katie Michell's RSC production of The Dybbuk. If you can fathom the logic, do tell.
