Charity chief Richard Driscoll has been crowned Hertfordshire’s Business Person of the Year.

Mr Driscoll, 59, is in his 18th year as chief executive of the National Association for Colitis and Crohn’s Disease (NACC). Under his auspices, the charity has grown to a membership of more than 30,000 with a turnover of £1.9m.

He tells People: “The challenge is to efficiently blend the business and the very personal style of the charity. We need to maintain that personalisation of working with people who are committing their time as volunteers out of the goodness of their heart.”

He says it is a very challenging time for all charities.
