JC columnist Rabbi Naftali Brawer is to present a two-part Radio 4 documentary on the Talmud next month.

“It’s an extraordinary living book,” said Rabbi Brawer.

“Even today, despite the different strands of Jews who study Talmud, they continue to argue and find meaning in it.”

The idea germinated a couple of years ago from a talk on Talmud he gave at St Peter’s College, Oxford.
The master of the college is Mark Damazer, former Radio 4 controller, and he was so taken with what he heard, that he suggested Rabbi Brawer pitch for a programme.
