Two senior rabbis joined a special interfaith event in central London on Monday to mark the 10th anniversary of a pioneering anti-poverty campaign.

Rabbi Danny Rich, chief executive of Liberal Judaism, and Rabbi Jonathan Wittenberg, senior rabbi of the Assembly of Masorti Synagogues, gave their support to the Citizens UK campaign for a living wage.

They were among 150 Jews, Muslims and Christians from across London who gathered at Methodist Central Hall to take part in a joint study session of scriptural passages from the three faiths on wealth and the use of money.

Rabbi Rich said: "The demand for a living wage and the campaign against usury - excessive interest - are practical methods to create a society where every individual is valued."
