Board deputy Rabbi David Neifeld has announced he is standing for the Conservatives in next month’s Hertsmere Borough council by-election.
Rabbi Neifeld is vying to fill the vacant Borehamwood Kenilworth seat in the May 6 election, triggered by the death of Tory councillor Cynthia Barker last year.
He will be standing against Dan Ozarow (Labour and Co-op Party) and Darren Simon Diamond (Liberal Democrats).
Rabbi Neifeld represents United Synagogue on the Board of Deputies and is a rabbinic coordinator at the Kosher London Beth Din.
In a statement, he said that he “hopes to be entrusted with the opportunity to represent the people of Borehamwood Kenilworth on the council so that we can all bounce back and build back better than ever before.”
