A Reform UK campaign aide who reportedly said he “wouldn’t touch a Jewish woman” has confirmed he has been suspended from the party.
Adam Mitula, Reform’s interim campaign manager for Tameside, had been canvassing for Matt Goodwin, the party’s candidate standing in tomorrow’s Gorton and Denton by-election, when it emerged he had allegedly made derogatory remarks online about Jewish people and the Holocaust.
In July 2024, Mitula apparently tweeted that he “wouldn’t touch a Jewish woman” and in the same month downplayed the number of Jewish victims of the Holocaust. This post was was a response to a claim made by former UFC fighter Jake Shields, that the Holocaust’s death toll was "made up".
Mitula, who is originally from Poland, wrote: "Six million Polish people, including some Jews. They always use Poles to make up the number. And on top of it they claim Poles were killing. Just sick.”
The posts were uncovered by anti-racism group Hope not Hate, with the Manchester Mill first reporting on them. Mitula’s X account has since been deleted.
Reform UK – which earlier this month launched a Jewish members' organisation – refused to comment on the matter at all, though it is understood the party opened an investigation into Mitula.
Now, Mitula has told the news agency Press Association: “I'm confirming my suspension as a Reform member pending investigation.”
He claimed: "The comments in question were taken out of context and actually defended the Jewish community."
Reform UK leader Nigel Farage has also been dogged by allegations in recent months that he subjected some of his Jewish classmates to antisemitic abuse as a schoolboy – claims he has denied.
He has said of the accusations: "If they genuinely [were upset] then that's a pity and I'm sorry, but never, ever did I intend to hurt anybody".
Reform UK declined to comment.
