Corbyn seeking legal advice after clash with Sultana over Your Party’s membership launch
September 18, 2025 16:18A vicious row has broken out between Jeremy Corbyn and Zarah Sultana over their new political party, temporarily called Your Party.
Sultana slammed Corbyn and his fellow pro-Gaza independents, saying they had subjected her to "what can only be described as a sexist boys club”, and cut her out of decision-making processes for the new party.
She called on Corbyn to meet her and make all Your Party decisions public: "This party is more important than any one person".
The comments from the MP for Coventry South come as Corbyn and four other independent MPs backing Your Party said they were seeking legal advice after Sultana sent an “unauthorised email” from Your Party’s account to all 750,000 people who had signed up for updates inviting supporters to become paying members.
According to Sultana, the Thursday morning email brought in 20,000 paid members within hours.
Sultana said in a statement that she had taken the decision to send out the membership email without the consent of her fellow Your Party MPs to “safeguard the grassroots involvement” that she believed was essential to the party’s success.
However, Corbyn urged his followers to ignore Sultana’s email and cancel any direct debits.
A statement from the former Labour leader, signed by pro-Gaza independents Ayoub Khan, Adnan Hussain, Iqbal Mohamed and Shockat Adam, said: “This morning, an unauthorised email was sent to all yourparty.uk supporters with details of a supposed membership portal hosted in a new domain name.

“Legal advice is being taken. That email should be ignored by all supporters. If any direct debits have been set up, they should be immediately cancelled.”
The spat over the email follows reports of ideological division in the new party over trans and women’s rights, as well as differences of opinion regarding Corbyn’s stint as Labour leader.
In August, MP for Blackburn Adnan Hussain was asked what his position was on the Supreme Court’s recent judgment that the definition of the word “woman” is defined by biological sex.
Hussain said: “Women's rights and safe spaces should not be encroached upon.”
A few hours later, Sultana appeared to express an alternative opinion. Posting on X, she wrote: “I’ve always stood with the trans community, and I always will.
“Our safety is in solidarity. None of us are free until all of us are free. That’s the new party we’re building.”
Sultana also used an interview with the New Left Review to criticise the Your Party co-founder, claiming that Corbyn had “capitulated to the IHRA definition of antisemitism” when he was Labour leader.
In a subsequent interview, Corbyn appeared to hit back at Sultana: "I think it wasn't really necessary for her to bring all that up in the interview, but that's what she decided to do.”
Pundits have been quick to suggest that the new Jewish leader of the Green Party, Zack Polanski, seeks to gain from the fresh clash between Sultana and Corbyn, as both parties will be seeking the support of left-wing, anti-Israel voters.
