The previous attempt at a launch was beset by reports of a split between the two left-wingers

Former Labour leader Jeremy Corbyn and vocal anti-Israel MP Zarah Sultana have formally announced the establishment of a new leftist political party.
It's time for a new kind of political party - one that belongs to you.

In a joint statement on social media, they said: “The system is rigged when 4.5 million children live in poverty in the sixth richest country in the world. The system is rigged when giant corporations make a fortune from rising bills. The system is rigged when this government says there is no money for the poor, but billions for war.”
The founding statement also prominently mentioned the conflict between Israel and Hamas in Gaza and accused the Labour government of being complicit in “crimes against humanity”.
“Now, more than ever, we must defend the right to protest against genocide. We believe in the radical idea that all human life has equal value. That is why we will keep demanding an end to all arms sales to Israel, and for the only path to peace: a free and independent Palestine,” it added.
The pair went on to say that the direction of the party and its leadership structures would be decided at a conference in the near future by people who sign up on its website. “That is how we build a democratic movement that can take on the rich and powerful – and win.”
However, despite the party’s web address reading “yourparty.uk”, Sultana clarified that the new body wasn’t actually called “Your Party” in a post on social media. She has given no indication of what it would be called.
It’s not called Your Party!

Sultana’s comments, though, have already led to some mockery from her political rivals. Mike Tapp, the Labour MP for Dover and Deal, responded to her post with a laughing emoji. Conservative MP Ben Obese-Jecty commented sarcastically: “Your Party launch an absolute masterclass in political PR.”
And one Labour frontbencher told the JC: "I thought they should be called the fruit and nut party. What an absolute farce."
The joint statement confirming the launch of the new party today comes after reports of splits between its founders.
On July 3, Sultana announced that she and Corbyn would co-lead a new, as yet unnamed political party “with other independent MPs, campaigners and activists across the country”.
However, Corbyn did not immediately comment about the new party he was meant to be co-leading. The following day he congratulated Sultana on her initiative in a social media post and said he was “delighted that she will help us build a real alternative”.
But, according to Sunday Times journalist Gabriel Pogrund, the independent MP for Islington North, was “furious and bewildered” at the way the new party was launched.
Despite representing his north London seat for Labour since 1983, Corbyn was blocked from standing for his former party at the last general election for saying that the scale of antisemitism in the Labour Party had been “dramatically overstated for political reasons”.
Under Corbyn’s leadership, the Labour Party was found by the Equality and Human Rights Council (EHRC) to have been responsible for unlawful acts of harassment and discrimination in its report on antisemitism within the party.
Sultana, who was re-elected as a Labour MP in 2024, was suspended shortly after the general election for voting against the government on a key issue.
During her suspension, she repeatedly claimed that the government was complicit in Israel’s “genocide” in Gaza.
Last month, she was one of 26 MPs who voted against the proscription of Palestine Action and ended her speech by saying: “We are all Palestine Action”.
