A Jewish pedestrian has been seriously injured in a road accident in Golders Green.

The incident took place on North End Road at the junction with West Heath Drive at around 4.05pm on Thursday.

It is believed a black minicab collided with the person, who has been taken to hospital along with another patient.

Emergency crews including fire engines, ambulances and Hatzola Jewish ambulance response vehicles attended the scene.

Police questioned the driver in a nearby café as the pedestrian was treated.

Eyewitnesses said they had seen blood covering the road and an apparent attempt by firefighters to lift the taxi off the ground, possibly to free the person.

A London Fire Brigade spokesman said: “A pedestrian was hit by a large vehicle on Thursday afternoon.

“The emergency call was made to us at 4.05pm to report the crash, with three fire engines and a fire rescue unit sent out.”
