Tenants among you will want to steer clear of this man. The founder of Landlord Action, Paul Shamplina specialises in tenant eviction across England and Wales. He has carried out more than 15,000 evictions since co-founding the company in 1999, but says now is a particularly busy time.
He tells People: “More tenants are losing their jobs — thus they cannot pay the rent; and there are more and more landlords who are doing their own management.”
Mr Shamplina, 38, who appeared on the BBC’s Inside Out helping expose a rogue property investment sourcing company, and ITV’s Tenants From Hell, is known in the business for his no-nonsense and proactive stance.
Do people not hate him? “You have to be thick-skinned. We are sensitive to people who have fallen on hard times but get people who are abusing the system. There are serial bad tenants, and we expose the rogues.”
What does he advise tenants in trouble? “Always have good communication with your landlord. Be honest and don’t ignore correspondence. Hopefully they will sympathise.”
