Oxford Brookes University is to offer a postgraduate scholarship to a student from the Ben-Gurion University of the Negev, thanks to an initiative of the local chaplaincy board.
The successful applicant will receive travel expenses and full funding to pursue a master's course at Brookes from this September.
Sandra Dwek, a member of the Oxford Jewish Chaplaincy Board and a former member of the Chancellor's Court at Brookes, said enough money had been raised "to initiate the first year of what we hope will be a three-year project".
It would not only provide "superb opportunities" for students from Israel but also a chance for Brookes "to find out about Israeli culture, establish links and promote Israel/Arab friendship and understanding on campus".
