World Jewish Relief has confirmed that a man implicated in the Oxfam scandal this week had worked for WJR until “several months ago”, but stressed that the charity had not been made aware of any concerns regarding his behaviour.
The Times revealed that a number of Oxfam employees had engaged in the sexual exploitation of disaster victims in Haiti after the earthquake there in 2010. The newspaper said one of those involved in the scandal had subsequently been hired by WJR.
The employee dealt with the humanitarian crisis in eastern Ukraine for 18 months until mid-2017. No allegations were made against him during his time at WJR.
A WJR spokesman told the JC: “The individual in question was employed by Ukraine Jewish Relief, a separate legal entity registered in Ukraine.
