Controversial Bristol professor David Miller could face a disciplinary hearing as early as next week.
The academic has been under investigation since March after attacking the university’s Jewish society as “political pawns [used] by a violent, racist foreign regime”.
Prominant anti-Zionist activist Tony Greenstein claims to have heard from a University of Bristol staff member “unhappy about the pressure being exerted on the university to dismiss Professor Miller” who says the academic’s hearing will take place next week.
The university has been condemned by the All Party Parliamentary Group on Antisemitism, which wrote to Bristol Vice Chancellor Hugh Brady attacking the university’s “institutional failure… to tackle anti-Jewish racism”.
The MPs said it “beggars belief” that an official investigation into “racist” comments made by Prof Miller remained unfinished.
The professor of political sociology was originally suspended after Jewish students said they did not feel safe while he taught at the university.
Prof Miller has attacked Sir Keir Starmer for taking “Zionist money” and called for the “end” of Zionism.
At the time, his remarks were condemned by the Campaign Against Antisemitism.
“David Miller is a perpetrator, not a victim,” a spokesperson said. “His doubling down on his dangerous claims that Jewish students are the pawns of Israel and pose a threat to Muslims are nothing short of incitement.”
