Nicole Davis is having a pop at the UK music charts

American-born Nicole Davis is hoping to make her mark on the UK music scene. Miss Davis, known as Nicol, is about to release her debut single Everybody Knows.

Her music, which has been compared with Sheryl Crow’s, has been commissioned by Sony for a show called Sofia’s Diary, currently broadcasting on AOL’s recent acquisition, Bebo.com.

“Music has been the main thing in my life,” Miss Davis, 25, tells People. She has devoted the past six years to singing and songwriting, turning down a scholarship offer from Saint Martins College of Art and the chance to study at the Sylvia Young Theatre School to focus on her passion.

Having recently completed numerous studio recordings, Miss Davis says she is now ready to release her music to the world for the first time. “You can’t hide forever; I just feel the time is right for people to get a chance to hear what I’m all about.”

She describes her music style as pop/folk/rock, similar to British artist Nerina Pallot. “My music has a pop element but is more earthy,” she says. “My ambition is to get out there and get recognition.”

Brought up in Los Angeles, she now lives in North-West London.

Everybody Knows will be available on iTunes from June 2
