Fauda has continued its success in the Arab world, becoming the most-viewed show on Lebanese Netflix with the release of its fourth series.

Debuting on the streamer last weekend, Fauda topped the Lebanese ‘Most Watched’ list (where the fourth season takes place) and also has devopd strong viewing figures in the UAE and Saudi Arabia where ranked in the top ten.

In 2020, the show’s co-creator commented on the series’ popularity saying: “I think part of it is the language, which means that ‘Fauda’ has crossed over into the Arabic language, and we are also bringing the story on both sides, not just from the Israeli side.”

With Fauda’s popularity rising in the region, even Hamas has produced its own version of the show, titled “First of the Free”.

The 30 episode show, produced by the Al-Aqsa network denies the comparison. “The idea of our films and series centers on our struggle with the enemy... We are not responding to them in their Fauda program" the assistant director of the show told AFP.

Season four of Fauda takes the cast to Lebanon and Belgium as well as returning to the West Bank.

The full series is available to stream on Netflix now.
