Thirty-year-old Nadaav Soudry is looking for Jewish dates — and calls it work.

Mr Soudry, a freelance film-maker, is currently directing new ITV series A Match Made in Heaven. The seven-part observational documentary — to be screened later this year — will follow a selection of Jews, Christians and Muslims as they search for love within their faiths. Fancy it? Mr Soudry is currently casting.

“The idea is to see what is it like living and dating within ethnic minorities in the UK,” Mr Soudry tells People. “I would be interested to find out whether people date for themselves or for their families.” He acknowledges there are some people who prefer to find a Jewish partner and others that are not bothered if they do not. He adds: “It is nice to be investigating my own culture and travelling as far a field as North-West London, Manchester and Glasgow. I think the series will give a positive, non-political, down-to-earth view of modern Jewish life and the social and cultural issues affecting Jews in Britain, but that depends on who applies.”

Applicants can be of any level of religious or cultural observance, but must be outgoing, relaxed around the cameras and willing to talk openly about their faith, says Mr Soudry, who has worked on TV brands including ITN, BBC’s Panorama and Blue Peter. He also used to work for Israeli radio station Kol Israel.

His father, Aharon Soudry, is a minister at Garnet Hill Synagogue in Glasgow.
