There is one Israeli who might be grateful for Jeremy Corbyn's political elevation: Gaby Elyahou.
He is the eponymous owner of Gaby's Deli, off Leicester Square in central London, reputedly the new Labour leader's favourite restaurant.
Mr Corbyn's election has resulted in a spate of publicity for the deli, a popular haunt for West End stars and theatregoers for 50 years since Iraqi-born Mr Elyahou arrived from Israel.
Mr Corbyn is said to be a regular visitor to Gaby's with the new Shadow Chancellor John McDonnell.
But the Labour leader won't have sampled the signature salt beef. As a vegetarian, he sticks to humus and felafel.
