plays his way to a dream musical education
August 21, 2008 23:00Piano prodigy Max Davidoff-Grey has won a place at the acclaimed Purcell School of Music. Max, 14, joins Purcell in September in a move which he describes as a dream come true.
Based in Bushey, Hertfordshire, the Purcell School is a boarding school for young musicians. Funded predominantly by the government, the school was awarded the Unesco Mozart Gold Medal in recognition of its contribution to music, education and international culture.
How does he feel? "Absolutely fantastic," Max, a former pupil at Parmiter's School in Watford, tells People. "It was just a dream before my teacher Michael Harvey decided I was ready to audition. Now it has become a reality and I still can't believe it."
Max started playing the piano four years ago. He hopes to become a concert pianist. "There are so many beautiful compositions for piano, and every piece is an adventure in itself. When I hear my teacher play I want to play all those pieces. The only way to have enough time to make that happen is if I devote my life to it."
Max is a member of Elstree Liberal Synagogue.
