Nigella Lawson, Maureen Lipman and Ed Miliband are just some of the celebrities who have contributed to a new recipe book created by Mark Silverman.

Mr Silverman compiled the book to raise money for research into Duchenne muscular dystrophy, a muscle-wasting disease. His five-year-old son, Thomas, has the condition. It is currently incurable and primarily affects boys and young men.

Mr Silverman, 36, has spent the past few years fundraising. He has raised more than £50,000. Titled Good Food, Tastes Great: Jewish Culinary Favourites, the book features a forward from actress Helena Bonham Carter and a striking front cover shot of Leon Nicholas, who was a waiter at Blooms restaurant in Golders Green, north London, for many years.

Mr Silverman tells People: "I put the book together because I wanted to reach out to the wider Jewish community and the community beyond that. We are pleased to have recipes from about 50 celebrity names plus those from other supporters."
