Ma'anit Rosenthal could soon score a recording contract

articlemain

Singer songwriter Ma’anit Rosenthal is a step closer to landing herself a recording contract after making it through to the regional finals of a national competition.

Open Mic UK 2009 is a talent search for Britain’s best singers, singer/songwriters, rappers and vocalists of all genres — those who have the potential to become a professional recording artist.

Miss Rosenthal, 24, describes her style as acoustic folk and pop. She will perform in front of the judges — who include broadcaster Mark Goodier; Dane Bowers, formerly of boy band Another Level; and Atomic Kitten’s Liz McClarnon — on Sunday October 11, and compete for the chance to win a cash prize and a recording contract to release her single.

She tells People: “It would be amazing to win — exactly what I would want. At the moment I am rehearsing and also doing local gigs to get known on the circuit.”

Living in Kent, she has been singing and playing the guitar for the past four years. “I guess the dream is to do this as a living and be able to express myself to everyone through music.”

Among her inspirations are country music group the Dixie Chicks and American singer-songwriter Fiona Apple. The Open Mic regional finals take place at the Beck Theatre in Hayes, Middlesex.
