The Green Party has suspended Mark Adderley, Loose Women star Nadia Sawalha’s husband, following a series of controversial remarks comparing Israel to Nazi Germany and blaming Mossad for perpetrating “false flag” terror attacks against Jews.
Adderley, who had been standing as a Green Party candidate in Crystal Palace and Upper Norwood, has been accused of promoting antisemitic tropes and conspiracy theories in videos posted to his YouTube channel. Adderley is often seen alongside his wife in these videos. Following these concerns raised by antisemitism advocacy groups and political figures, including MP Steve Reed, Communities Minister, the Green Party moved to suspend Adderley on Friday night, the Daily Mail reported.
One such video posted in March included Adderley comparing Hitler’s expansion of Germany "to what [Israeli prime minister, Binyamin] Netanyahu, is doing in the Middle East,” calling Israel “the biggest threat to the sovereignty of every nation on this planet because they are ‘the chosen people’”.
In the same video, which has since been deleted after being seen by The Times, Adderley speculated that the American political figure Charlie Kirk was not shot by the suspect of the murder but “taken out”, claiming: “it's the deep state, [Israel's] Mossad intelligence, CIA.”

Adderley also said, in a video shared two days after the deadly December terror attack targeting a Chanukah celebration on Bondi Beach, that Netanyahu was the “only person who has made the lives of Jewish people infinitely more dangerous,” adding as a caption: “Once again the Grim Reaper of Israel BLAMES everyone else for the awful violence on Bondi Beach but never ever entertains the thought that HE is single handedly [sic] responsible for endangering the lives of Jewish people and Muslims throughout the World.”
The would-be Green Party candidate responded to his suspension over the weekend by taking to social media, expressing that he is “truly, deeply, viscerally disgusted” by the decision.
“I have spent my entire life fighting racism in all its forms. I have stood shoulder to shoulder with Jewish friends, comrades, and communities against genuine hatred.”
He went on to say that the Green Party has “fallen at what feels like the first hurdle in Labour’s attempts to recreate the Corbyn antisemitism psychodrama of some years ago.”
“If we are to change politics for the good, we must do things differently. We must be unafraid to say what establishment politics has disallowed: that Zionism is racism, that opposing a fascistic, apartheid state is not racism, it is not antisemitic, it is not conflating all Jewish People with the Netanyahu Regime – and that standing with the oppressed should NEVER be something to suspend someone for,” Adderley added.
Reed took to X to congratulate Green Party leader Zack Polanski, who is Jewish, on the decision to suspend Adderley, calling it the “first step in ridding his party of antisemitism.”
I want to congratulate @ZackPolanski on this first step in ridding his party of antisemitism. He knows there is more to be done - including other Green Party candidates still standing in Lambeth - but getting racism out of politics should transcend party point scoring. At the time of writing, Adderley's name was still listed as a Green Party candidate in the upcoming council elections on May 7.
