Distance was no obstacle for love when Michael Buskin and Olga Bukhman from Ukraine matched on the dating app JCrush.

The couple have become the first UK match to get engaged after "meeting" on the Jewish app.

Three months after their first online conversation, Essex-based Mr Buskin, 36, travelled to meet 27-year-old lecturer Ms Bukhman in her home town of Kharkiv. All went well, and Mr Buskin proposed to his "perfect match" two weeks ago. He said: "When we first set eyes on each other it just felt so right. There was no awkwardness and everything felt so natural. It was like we had known each other all our lives.

"Olga is so perfect. She is not only beautiful on the outside but incredibly beautiful on the inside too.

"She is kind, good-hearted, and makes the best chicken soup."

The couple plan to marry in August.
