Mr Goldsmith, who wore a purple kippah to the meeting, said: “I enjoyed an enlightening discussion with Rabbi Mirvis about London, faith, and how I can help stand up for the Jewish community if elected Mayor of London.”
Rabbi Mirvis said: “It was a great pleasure to spend some time getting to know two of the candidates for Mayor of London and to discuss some the issues of concern to Jewish Londoners.
"Both spoke in very warm terms about our community and I wished them the very best of luck at the polls on 5th May”.
It is understood that the meetings were arranged after the candidates contacted Rabbi Mirvis' office. A spokesman confirmed that no candidates representing other parties had been in touch.
Mr Khan and Mr Goldsmith are running for the position of London Mayor against Green Party candidate Siân Berry, Liberal Democrat candidate Caroline Pidgeon, Ukip's Peter Whittle and Respect's George Galloway.
