articlemain

A London man has been attacked in New York in what police believe to be an antisemitic attack.

The 65-year old unnamed grandfather, was visiting relatives for a wedding, when he was assaulted by two men in the Borough Park area of Brooklyn.

Relatives of the man said he was punched in the head and fell to the ground, badly injuring his face.

The man was taken to Maimonides Hospital by the Hatzolah volunteer ambulance service.

The police believe the incident could be linked to a spate of attacks referred to as the 'knockout game' in which Jews are deliberately targeted.

Councilman David Greenfield said:

"It's shocking to hear about another possible antisemitic knockout in Borough Park."

"We must have zero tolerance for these kinds of attacks.

"I trust the NYPD that they will use every resource to find the perpetrators of this outrageous assault."

The NYPD is investigating the incident as a race-hate crime. No arrests have been made.
