The constituency party of a Jewish Labour member, whose home was targeted after she spoke about antisemitism at a party meeting, has condemned “this reprehensible act”.
Dr Rebecca Moses spoke at a meeting of her local Labour party on September 9, during a discussion on whether to support the adoption of the full International Holocaust Remembrance Alliance definition of Jew-hate.
Days later, a picture of Donald Trump was placed outside her house. Dr Moses tweeted that whoever placed it there meant to say she was "automatically a Trump fan" because she was Jewish. Dr Moses reported the incident to police as a hate crime.
Wimbledon Labour, Dr Moses’ CLP, released a statement, saying: "The Executive Committee of Wimbledon Labour Party condemns this reprehensible act. We stand in solidarity with Rebecca and her family."
The Trump picture appears to be a reference to comments made by Pete Willsman, the member of Labour's governing body who ranted during one of its meetings about how British Jews were "Trump fanatics" who were making up allegations of antisemitism within Labour.
Despite widespread outrage after the JC released a recording of Mr Willsman at the meeting, the far-left member was still re-elected to Labour's National Executive Committee earlier this month.
Jackie Schneider, the Parliamentary candidate for Wimbledon Labour, told the JC: "This kind of harassment is wholly unacceptable. It is outrageous that Rebecca has been targeted in this way. I hope that whoever did this is caught. I have sent Rebecca my full support."
Dr Moses won support from prominent Labour MPs, including former leadership candidate Yvette Cooper. But she deleted her Twitter account after tweeting about the incident.
