The concerns of Jewish students were raised by community leaders in a meeting with university chiefs.
Representatives of the Union of Jewish Students, Jewish Leadership Council and Board of Deputies, and Britain's ambassador to Israel, Matthew Gould, met four vice-chancellors from Universities UK .
Universities UK is an umbrella group which represents university heads.
Concerns over antisemitism, Israel boycotts and extreme speakers on campus were among the issues discussed.
The meeting took place earlier this month but details only emerged on Wednesday.
