Prince William and Kate Middleton have been wished a hearty mazel tov from British Jewry.

The Board of Deputies said they were sending "congratulations and every good wish" to the royal couple on "the joyous occasion of their marriage".

Speaking on behalf of the UK's Jewish community, the Board said: "At this historic time of celebration for the whole of the UK, we hope that the couple's bright future together is filled with good health, great happiness and much fulfilment.

"We add the traditional Jewish greeting – mazel tov!"
