Lancashire man charged over offensive comments

The offences relate to comments allegedly made in February and March last year

A 22 year-old man has been charged by counter-terrorism police with offences relating to making comments likely to stir up racial hatred against Jews.

Jack Renshaw, of Skelmersdale, Lancashire, is charged with two public order offences after allegedly using threatening, abusive and insulting words and displaying material with intent to cause hatred.

The offences relate to comments allegedly made in February and March last year at events in Blackpool and Yorkshire  - and comments made on social media.

Mr Renshaw was arrested by officers from the North West Counter Terrorism Unit in January.

He was bailed to appear at Preston Magistrates’ Court on July 27.

A spokesperson for Greater Manchester Police said: "This arrest relates to comments made at an event in Yorkshire in February 2016 and Blackpool in March 2016 and comments made on social media."
