King Solomon High School head teacher Jo Shuter must await her fate after being found guilty of professional misconduct over expense claims while in a previous job.

Ms Shuter admitted a number of allegations before a teaching standards panel last month relating to her headship of the Quintin Kynaston Community Academy in London. They included charging the school nearly £7,000 for a 50th birthday party and around £1,500 for furniture delivered to her home, as well as claiming for personal taxi journeys.

Parents of King Solomon pupils were told this week that Ms Shuter would remain out of school until the issue was resolved but governors hoped to give an update soon.

The Teaching Agency panel will decide what action to take after concluding that the allegations amounted to “conduct that may bring the profession into disrepute”.

Awarded the CBE for services to education in 2010, Ms Shuter resigned after 11 years at Quintin Kynaston in May 2013 after the financial irregularities came to light.

When she was appointed to King Solomon later in the year, the governors if of the Essex Jewish school emphasised her “inspirational” educational record, pointing out that she would not have the same involvement in financial management as she had at her previous school.

King Solomon School declined to comment on the findings.
