Josh Magidson relies on a whole lot of takeaways to get him through the credit crunch

Good news for students, especially hungry ones.
University graduate Josh Magidson has come up with an online business to cater for all your takeaway needs. The website, eatstudent.co.uk, which he runs with fellow graduate Edward Green, enables students to search for and order from their preferred local takeaways.
Established in 2007, the company has recently been bought by Just-Eat.co.uk, the market leader in online takeaway ordering. eatstudent covers eight university towns but a £500,000 investment from Just-Eat will help the duo to roll out the business nationwide.
Mr Magidson, 24, tells People: "Luckily, we have picked an industry that has grown considerably through the credit crunch.
"The next stage is to take it to every university in the country in the next year."
He established the site during freshers' week at Nottingham University, where he studied English. "After a night out I was searching for a pizza place online which I could order from and couldn't find one. So I decided to set up a small directory website from my student dorm for £100.
"When I graduated in 2008 it was one of the worst job markets for decades so I thought: 'Why don't I try to d take this on'?" It is now a full-time job for Mr Magidson, who went to St Paul's School in London. The site receives hundreds of orders a night and recently featured in startups.co.uk's top 100 start ups.
What is the most popular takeaway choice? "Chinese. We get so many orders for sweet and sour chicken."
