Pensioner Joe Kraven is using his late wife’s x-rays to create pieces of art with an anti-racist message. The 84-year-old Londoner came up with the idea when he was mistakenly sent his wife Cissie’s x-rays after she died of pancreatic cancer three years ago.

He tells People: “I laid one on a newspaper and saw how the print was visible through the x-ray. The image showed a family where one half was black and the other was white so I thought about making a poster with an anti-racist message.”

He came up with the slogan: “God doesn’t do favourites. Tolerance is the vaccine against racism.”

The Woodford Green local has received help from his local MP Lee Scott and hopes to approach the British Olympic Committee to use his creation as part of their 2012 anti-racism drive. He has donated the original to Redbridge Town Hall. Mr Kraven regularly attends Jewish Care’s Sinclair House.
