JFS responds to parents’ security concerns by ordering guards to wear high-vis jackets

articlemain

Security guards at JFS will be ordered to wear high-visibility jackets, following a complaint from a parent over the safety of pupils at the school.

Nicki Hari raised concerns after her 14-year-old son was mugged as he was walking on the path leading to the school premises.

She was invited to discuss the issue with headteacher Jonathan Miller. She said Mr Miller told her that while he would not be increasing security, he would order all guards to wear high-vis jackets while on patrol.

“He said their security is as good as can be, and that teachers had also been told to be more vigilant,” Ms Hari said.

“I told him I didn’t receive any empathy or contact from the school following the mugging, for which he apologised. I hope this will make a difference.”

An online petition set up by Mrs Hari appealing for increased security at the school in Kenton, north-west London, had been signed by 150 people.

JFS had been contacted for comment.
