Jews are one of the unhappiest religious groups, according to figures released by the Office for National Statistics.
The data which measures personal wellbeing shows that Jews have an “happiness rating” of 7.37 out of 10, compared to a UK average of 7.38.
Of all the faith groups, only Muslims were more miserable, with a rating of 7.33.
Hindus were most cheerful, scoring 7.57.
But most depressed of all were people with no religion, at 7.22
The data, taken from 300,000 adults in the UK over three years, between 2012 and 2015, was part of the ONS' project to measure the nation's well-being.
Four areas were assessed - "happiness", "life satisfaction", "worthwhile" and "anxiety".
