Jewish singer-songwriter releases Christmas charity single

The proceeds from ‘Waiting in for Santa Claus’ will go to hospitals in London

A Jewish singer songwriter has released a Christmas charity single with health workers to raise funds for the NHS.

Stuart Carr, 66, from Mill Hill, who celebrates a non-religious Christmas with presents and a meal but does not put up a tree, says the song is “universal” and for everyone to enjoy.

He wrote the swing song, “Waiting in for Santa Claus”, out now on Amazon and iTunes, before the pandemic struck and says its message is relevant.

“It’s ironic. My title was done before Covid and now we are waiting for Santa Claus because no one can really go out.”

Mr Carr is donating all proceeds from downloads to the Imperial Health Charity, which supports five hospitals across north and west London.

“I’ve been feeling very helpless through the lockdown and I’m in awe of these people that are out there on the frontlines risking their lives to save others.

“I wanted to do something to show appreciation for the wonderful work that they’re doing.”

Mr Carr recorded the song in October with 11 NHS workers in socially-distanced sessions.

The musician, who is attached to Rollover Studios on Beethoven Street, previously wrote tracks for X-Factor contenders Johnny Robinson and Rhydian Roberts.
