The Jewish Council for Racial Equality has called on David Cameron to allow 3,000 unaccompanied refugee children into the UK.
More than 400 Jewish community members have signed a petition from JCORE calling on the Prime Minister to take in the lone refugee children, who have become separated from their families as a result of the refugee crisis .
In a letter accompanying the petition, JCORE's executive director, Dr. Edie Friedman, said: “Children aged as young as ten who have become separated from their families are living in camps across Europe, at tremendous risk of abuse, violence, kidnapping and trafficking.
"Their plight raises memories of our own refugee history. We feel strongly that Britain must play its part in providing safety and security for these vulnerable children.
“We look forward to an announcement soon of a positive response to our voices, and those of many other charities and individuals in the UK."
The petition was delivered to Mr Cameron today.
