The headteacher of the Jewish Community Secondary School, JCoSS, has moved to reassure parents over security measures taken in the wake of the Paris attacks.
In a letter, Patrick Moriarty, wrote: “Such events have naturally raised anxiety levels about security in this country, and I seek to reassure you that we have kept these issues under regular review.
“The school site is very secure, with guards on active duty at all times at entry points and around the site, assisted by comprehensive CCTV coverage and high quality infrastructure.”
He added: “All staff and students have practised procedures for evacuation and all are aware of the need for their own vigilance.”
Akiva School headteacher Susy Stone emailed a message to parents from Community Security Trust chief executive David Delew advising them to be alert but “not to be unduly alarmed or in a state of panic”.
Mr Delew said: “These are difficult times and we understand the varying levels of concern that have been expressed to CST regarding threats against our community, particularly our schools.
“CST has been in close contact with police and government and wish to assure you that there is no suggestion of any information relating to an imminent attack upon British Jews.”
