Prime Minister David Cameron and opposition leader Ed Miliband have repeated their calls for a ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.
Speaking during Prime Minister’s Questions in the House of Commons on Wednesday, Mr Cameron said peace would only be possible if Israelis and Palestinians resumed direct negotiations.
He said more pressure should be put on US President Barack Obama to pursue peace talks.
Labour leader Mr Miliband said he felt “deep sorrow” for those killed on both sides, and asked what “barriers” were preventing a ceasefire being agreed.
