Knesset member Einat Wilf, who chairs a sub-committee on Israel-diaspora relations, thinks we should all be having more of a say there.
She has promised that her committee will hold a debate on any subject if it is requested by a few thousand signatories from the diaspora: the petition must come from at least three Jewish communities and can be made via email or Facebook.
The idea is based on a proposal from Joelle Fiss, a former British chair of the European Union of Jewish Students now based in the United States, who has written a book, Tiptoeing on Minefields, about why it would be a good thing to have more international Jewish dialogue.
