Californian singers Danielle, Este and Alana Haim were overjoyed to learn they had been nominated for International Group.
They tweeted: “So honoured to be nominated for best international act at the Brits this year. We kinda can’t believe it.”
The Haim sisters, whose father Mordechai is Israeli, are aged between 21 and 26 and once considered calling themselves “The Bagel Bitches”.
Their first taste of the spotlight was in a family band called “Rockinhaim”, singing covers with their parents.

For their first ever show as a family they played at a Jewish deli in Hollywood and were paid in matzah ball soup.
Hip hop trio London Grammar are nominated in the British Breakthrough Act category.
The band's guitarist, Dan Rothman, was a pupil at JFS. On Twitter the band said it was "thrilled" to be up for the award.
The winners will be announced at the Brits ceremony next month.
