A classics professor has composed an ode to Boris Johnson after the London mayor found himself suspended mid-air on a zipwire.

Earlier this summer, Dr Armand D'Angour, a Fellow at Jesus College, Oxford, was asked by Mr Johnson to compose an ode to the Olympics.

His ode, in both Greek and English, took three months "to perfect" and featured allusions to 2012 stars including Tom Daley, Lord Coe and Usain Bolt.

Visitors to the Games can see it engraved on a bronze plaque at the Olympic Park. The ode was recited by Mr Johnson at a celebratory gala for the International Olympic Committee at the Royal Opera House.
