A Jewish couple from Essex have channelled their lockdown boredom into creating a family-friendly Covid-19-themed card game that combines strategy with stockpiling.
“The Big Lockdown” involves stockpiling food, toilet paper and hygiene products while avoiding infection. Each game lasts around 15 minutes and can be played by up to four people aged over 8.
David and Madeleine Cooper, both 32, hope to commercialise the game next year and have raised over £3,500 of their £5,500 target on Kickstarter in order to do so.
Mr Cooper says the “tongue-in-cheek card game” is a way for families to learn about taking precautions against Covid-19.
“It is a fun way for the whole family to do something sociable, off screen over the holiday season, whilst at the same time learning about the importance of balancing risks and taking sensible precautions.
“Despite the challenges of this unique year, we believe humour is a great antidote to dealing with the dark times we have all had to cope with,” he said.
Should the Kickstarter be successful, those pledging at least £12 will receive a printable version of the game ahead of Chanukah and an official box and game in the next year.
