Four people have been arrested in the United Kingdom on suspicion of terrorism.
The men were arrested as part of an ongoing investigation into people travelling from the UK to allegedly join jihadist groups in Syria.
Three men – an 18, 22 and 31-year old – were arrested at their homes in east London early this morning.
A 33-year-old was arrested at Gatwick Airport yesterday afternoon as he attempted to leave the UK.
Officers from the Counter Terrorism Command arrested the men on suspicion of the commission, preparation or instigation of acts of terrorism under the Terrorism Act 2000.
Searches are continuing at their homes and all men are currently being interviewed at a south London police station.
Two men have already been charged in connection with this investigation.
