David Cameron has cancelled his planned visit to Israel next week due to the ongoing floods in Britain.

The Prime Minister told a Downing Street press conference that the flooding problem would not improve in the coming days.

He has as a result called off the intended trip to the Middle East and will stay in the UK to co-ordinate relief efforts.

His long-awaited first official visit to Jerusalem had been planned partly in co-operation with Conservative Friends of Israel and other advocacy groups.
