Did clothing retailer H&M get in an unnecessary flap when it withdrew a striped scarf bearing a distinct resemblance to a tallit from sale in Israel?

Most people here saw no problem with the garment.

While Reform Senior Rabbi Laura Janner-Klausner, who tweeted a picture of herself wearing one, admitted feeling ambivalent about the item, she added, "even so the idea of many British people walking around with the absolute likeness of a tallit is quite astounding but maybe should be taken as a compliment".

A Jewish Studies teacher at a Jewish school, who sported one on Shabbat, said she thought any objections were "ridiculous - it is not disrespectful or making a mockery".
