There were close to 350 children among the record 2,600 participants at this year’s conference - which ended yesterday - with a nursery, programmes for different age groups and a baby-sitting service.

Some sessions enabled parents to take part with their children including “Mishnah for kids” and “Horrible Histories – Infamous Israelites”.

Families could also engage in study and discussion of Jewish texts together in special chavruta slots.

At around £1,200 cost for a family of four, Limmud did not come cheap.

But for many parents, the experience was certainly worth it. One mother of three said she and her husband had been able to see films and concerts while the children were looked after. “It’s a holiday for us,” she said.
